We just wrapped-up the 2nd Annual Puget Sound Green Infrastructure Summit, and as the dust settles from this landmark event, we are electrified by the range of innovative, collaborative and intersectional “solutions-making” that is happening throughout our region. We definitely have a lot of work ahead of us to scale up to match the immense challenges of building solutions that address polluted runoff as we create healthy, thriving communities for all people, but we are ready to make it happen! 1) Understand the full breadth of current green infrastructure work and organizational
strengths across .edu, .org, .com, and .gov sectors

2) Identify gaps and catalyze strategic partnerships to:
Grow a powerful green infrastructure coalition and clean water constituency for Puget Sound
Inspire ourselves to pursue innovative and intersectional green solutions to stormwater pollution
Envision long-term funding approaches that are on par with the scale of our challenge

KEYNOTE SPEAKER:

Majora Carter

Majora Carter is a leading urban revitalization strategy consultant, real estate developer, and Peabody Award winning broadcaster. She is responsible for the creation & implementation of numerous green-infrastructure projects, policies, and job training & placement systems.

At Sustainable South Bronx, Carter deployed MIT’s first ever Mobile Fab Lab (digital fabrication laboratory) to the South Bronx – where it served as an early iteration of the “Maker-Spaces” found elsewhere today. The project drew residents and visitors together for guided and creative collaborations.

After establishing Sustainable South Bronx and Green For All (among other organizations) to carry on that work, she opened a private consulting firm to help spread the message and success of social enterprise and economic development in low-status communities – which was named Best for the World by B-Corp.
