5th Annual Puget Sound Green Infrastructure Summit:

Thank you to everyone who attended and presented at the first ever virtual Summit! We are grateful to all 53 speakers, 336 attendees, our amazing host committee, advisory committee, Stewardship Partners and Cascadia Consulting teams, and of course our sponsors. We covered a lot of ground together, uncovered some new ideas and planted them in fertile soil—the minds of innovative and bold leaders like you. Now it’s time to cultivate and grow what we’ve been given. It’s time to rebuild our communities, our infrastructure, and our systems to make them more just, resilient and restorative.

This year’s theme is “Growing Green Infrastructure: Impacts and Intersectionalities When Scaling up”.

Loosely defined, we are hoping to hear your stories and lessons learned as you grow your efforts in green infrastructure and discover opportunities and challenges related to that growth. As green infrastructure grows, issues like “green gentrification” and displacement, workforce development, equitable access for incentive programs, designing and maintaining for equity across neighborhoods, asset on-boarding for maintenance staffing and budget needs are on all our minds. In addition, there seem to be more opportunities to collaborate and plan with fields like transportation and affordable housing.

OUR VISION:
Diverse leaders from Puget Sound cities and towns convene to map the strategic role of urban green infrastructure in our shared clean water future.

SUMMIT GOALS:
1) Understand the full breadth of current green infrastructure work and organizational
strengths across .edu, .org, .com, and .gov sectors

2) Identify gaps and catalyze strategic partnerships to:
Grow a powerful green infrastructure coalition and clean water constituency for Puget Sound
Inspire ourselves to pursue innovative and intersectional green solutions to stormwater pollution
Envision long-term funding approaches that are on par with the scale of our challenge
